DEFINING THE SITE A new retaining wall on the foundation of an old one defines the sitting area that will now overlook a formal parterre (a collection of beds separated by walkways). The parterre was designed to replace the original athletic field that once occupied this space. |

SETTING THE CONTOURS The pergola was installed over the sitting area to provide shade and support vines. The soil was mounded to create a sunken garden for the parterre. |

PLANTING & SEATING Climbing roses, clematis and passionflower (Passiflora) are starting to mature and grace the pergola with greenery. The garden benches are designed with curved seats to create a comfortable sitting area for relaxing. |
