The Quilt Garden

image of home before work DEFINING THE SITE

A new retaining wall on the foundation of an old one defines the sitting area that will now overlook a formal parterre (a collection of beds separated by walkways). The parterre was designed to replace the original athletic field that once occupied this space.

The pergola was installed over the sitting area to provide shade and support vines. The soil was mounded to create a sunken garden for the parterre.

Climbing roses, clematis and passionflower (Passiflora) are starting to mature and grace the pergola with greenery. The garden benches are designed with curved seats to create a comfortable sitting area for relaxing.
