BEGINNING THE LAYOUT The framework for this formal quilt garden consists of cookie cutter-type structures to contain plants. The plan called for flatiron forms built to specifications. |
FORMS IN PLACE & PLANTED The cookie cutters are arranged to create the parterre, a collection of beds separated by walkways. In the center of the parterre, the fountain starts to take form and will become the focal point of this space. |
COMPLETED QUILT GARDEN The focal point of the garden is a fountain repeating the quilt pattern of the surrounding parterre. The paths consist of crushed gravel mixed with a bonding material which creates a level surface sturdy enough to support foot traffic. |
