BEFORE Boxwoods line the foundation of this house, which are fitting plants for Williamsburg-style homes. However, planted in this way, they accentuate the front wall instead of softening it. |

AFTER All but two boxwoods, one on each side of the front door, have been transplanted. Large, sweeping beds of perennials have been added, along with a grove of river birches to meld the house with the landscape. |
